WEEK 10 # 23 THE END..........

I am glad to have had the opportunity to learn new technology and be able do it during work time. I would like to say that the project was challenging, but even more challenging was to find time to complete the exercises without jeopardizing the quality of my work.

My favorites discoveries were the Avatars, Web applications, Flicker and YouTube.

I have always felt that I can learn anything if I really try, and if I can't it is okay too, real failure is not trying, the program reinforced that feeling.

The surprise for me was that I was able to accomplish all the exercises which seemed impossible to do at one time in my life. Having a Bloglines account now is for sure a take-away for me.

I think most of the technology involved in this project is already playing an important role for Libraries. Wiki probably can be used by HCPL to create a newsletter where employees may share ideas and anecdotes

I would like to learn more about eHCPL catalog, to be able to explain to customers when they ask: What is an ebook or audio ? etc. etc. and help them check out items.

WEEK 9 # 22 DOWNLOADABLE MEDIA

This has been by far the most valuable exercise, since it relates to our work at the library. I am glad it was included. Up until now the HCPL digital catalog had been strange terrain to me. This has given me the opportunity to explore it. In just a few minutes, I found at least 5 titles I would like to check out, one of them is "Too Good For Her Own Good" by Claudia Bepko.
I explored LibriVox and Wowio and there is hardly any differences between the HCPl site. Wowio advertises selected titles with animation in the home page. I liked that!

WEEK 9 # 21 PODCASTS, SMODCASTS

PodcastAlley.com was my choice to select a podcast to add to my Bloglines account. I selected one named Filmspotting since I love movies and want to know about new movie reviews. In that way I found the discovery process useful. It was exciting to have the opportunity to review past excercises by adding another RSS feed to my Bloglines account, and to be able to remember how to do it. I found many podcasts about libraries. I will mention one. Thomas Ford Memorial Library offers Click -A-Story, an audio recording of a story read by a staff member from the Youth Dept. honoring the Dial-A-Story programs that libraries offered in the past.

WEEK 9 # 20 DISCOVER YOU TUBE

I explored You Tube videos, and only within 2 categories, it was impossible to explore more, or to explore other video sites, the sytem was veryyyyyyy slowwwwwww, and time is precious. I found a video that I liked titled 'Elevator Claustrophobia'. It is funny, and very realistic, I am one of 'those people' afraid of closed spaces. I will try to copy and paste the video to my blog later to share with everybody. I found another one called 'Alcool droque et sex' I was not able to unload the video to actually view it, it never opened. I guess it has a high demand. I thought it was in bad taste.

WEEK 8 # 18 SOCIAL NETWORKING

I think is great to be able to meet people, form friendships and exchange ideas from the safety of your home. I am mostly familiar with my space since my daughter and most of my nieces prefer it. I liked the rate my space because decorating appeals to me. Actually, I am in the process of re-decorating my bedroom. I did not like the infield site. I do not like car races. I loved the fact that there is a web-site for cat and dog owners, naturally, I have a cat and a dog running around my house.
